Here at Carolinas Eco Blasting, we offer top-notch pressure washing and sandblasting services. Our team understands that traditional sandblasting can get very messy very fast, so we use dustless sandblasting methods instead. In this article, we’ll provide an overview of how dustless sandblasting works so that you can decide if this process is right for your needs.
- Traditional Sandblasting. First, we’ll cover how traditional sandblasting methods work. As the name suggests, sandblasting cleans surfaces by abrading them with sand. A sandblaster uses an air-powered pressure gun to fire sand at high velocity towards the intended target. As the sand hits the surface, the grains wear that surface away, removing dirt, layers of old paint, and more.
- Dustless Sandblasting. In contrast, dustless sandblasting uses a mixture of water and an eco-friendly abrasive. Water is in many ways a more effective alternative to air–it has more mass and does not compress, which makes it more effective for abrading and cleaning surfaces. Using water also makes the process go faster, allowing our team to complete projects in far less time than traditional sandblasting companies.
Our equipment conveys the abrasive-water mixture up and out of the machine using simple, reliable scientific principles, making it ultra-reliable. In addition, using water in the blasting process eliminates the dust plume of traditional sandblasting, and makes it easier and safer to work with others nearby. For all of these reasons, our team highly recommends dustless sandblasting, and we are happy to take on any project that you need help with.
